Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 30, 2026

Serenity Beacon Trust ("we", "us") is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. We process personal data in line with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019 and its regulations.

What we collect

We collect only what you give us: your name, email address, phone number and message when you use our contact form or write to us, and any details you share when you donate or ask about our programs. Our servers also keep basic technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.

Why we use it

We use your data to respond to enquiries, deliver and report on our programs, process and acknowledge donations, keep the website secure, and meet legal obligations. Our legal bases are your consent, the need to respond to your request, our legitimate interest in running the organisation, and legal compliance.

Sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the website, email and payments (for example our hosting provider, bank and mobile money provider), and with authorities when the law requires. If data is transferred outside Kenya, we do so only as the Act permits.

Retention and security

We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or as the law requires, then delete or anonymise it. We use technical and organisational measures to protect it. If a breach is likely to put you at risk, we will notify the Data Commissioner and affected people as the Act requires.

Children

We handle children's data only with the consent of a parent or guardian, and only where it serves the child's best interests, such as in our education and protection programs. Case information in our GBV and child-support work is kept confidential.

Your rights

You have the right to be informed about how we use your data, to access it, to object to its processing, to correct inaccurate data, and to ask us to delete it. To use any of these rights, contact us below. If you are unhappy with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (odpc.go.ke).
